EXPERIENCE:
My name is Alexandra, and I am pleased to meet you! My teaching journey started when I decided to go to Japan for a year, at 18 years old. I was working at a conversation café in Tokyo, and one day, one of the girls at my conversation table asked me to teach her French. She didn’t speak any English, or French, and I didn’t speak any Japanese nor had any knowledge about teaching French at that time, but she insisted! She was the one who made me realize how much I liked teaching and sharing my culture.
After completing my master’s degree of teaching FFL (French as a Foreign Language) at the university of Strasbourg, France, I worked as a full-time teacher at the International Institute for French Studies of the University of Strasbourg, and then I worked as an online teacher for the French Department of the Pekin University. I also taught for a little bit in a language school in Shenyang, China. On the side, I have been working as an online private teacher as well for the past few years.
I realized, over the time, that I prefer teaching private lessons over big classrooms of students, that’s why I have now decided to focus on online private teaching, and after living in France, Japan, the USA and China, I have decided settled near Toronto, Canada, for now…
What I like the most about teaching is discovering more and more about my students and their culture, little by little as they learn.
When I am not teaching, I love travelling, tasting different countries’ cuisines, painting aquarelle, though my favorite hobby is making my spouse jealous that our cat loves me more. 😊
