French learning immersion workshop in Nantes, France in May 2025

From May 21st to May 24th, 2025, we will be hosting a 4-day French immersion worskhop in the impressive château des Ducs de Bretagne located in the heart of the city of Nantes (just 2 hours from Paris by train – Or by plane, Nantes airport is 30 minutes away from the château)!!

Improve your French speaking and comprehension skills with like-minded people and caring French teachers in a unique setting (a 15th century spacious and spectacular room on the top floor of a tower of the castle). Experience a wonderful balance between learning, discovering and having fun.

4-Day French Immersion Workshop: May 21st thru May 24th, 2025

This workshop will last a total of 4 days. The students will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the French language and practise their verbal skills in context, learn about French culture and history. In addition, outdoor cultural activities will be organised to immerse the students in the French life and culture. A few grammar points will be reviewed and put into context with lively group exercises.

This exciting French immersion course is created and hosted by the founders and teachers of the French learning school: Learn French at Home, and the editors of our French learning publication: French Accent Magazine: Céline, Vincent, Alexandra, Annick and Roger. Other French teachers will be joining us as well to give as much personalisation as possible to every participant.

Our team of teachers will help you experience a wonderful and memorable time in this unique workshop. Many hours are spent into preparing of the activities to ensure an interesting and fun experience for each participant. Most of the activities are organised in small groups and they are all performed in a very positive and friendly environment.

Exquisite lunches and snacks are included everyday.

For the ones who wish to continue to socialise in French for 2 of the evenings, they will have the option to join us for dinner in one of the restaurants in the city.

Who is this event for?
This French Immersion Retreat is for intermediate to advanced French speakers who wish to practise and improve their verbal and comprehension skills.

Not only will you be improving your French speaking skills, but you’ll also experience a wonderful getaway at one of the most exciting and artistic cities on the West coast. There is no better place to immerse yourself in the French language and culture than in France, and this time, the students will have the wonderful and unique opportunity to learn French in the city’s most important historic building: Le Château des ducs de Bretagne.

Le Château was built in the late 15^th century by François II – the last Duke of Brittany – and later by his daughter, Anne of Brittany, who was twice Queen of France. This castle is filled with six centuries of history, and a palatial residence with sophisticated façades and Renaissance-era loggias.

Poised on the Loire, 30 miles from the Atlantic ocean, the map says it’s in the Loire-Atlantique, but its heart is Breton and the street signs are Breton and French.

Nantes is also the birthplace of Jules Verne. Many visitors come from afar to visit a famous theme part with giant mechanical elephants and other creatures inspired by the works of Jules Verne and Leonardo da Vinci. This is a truly unique mini universe that shows a great deal about the history of Nantes.

The city  transformed itself from France’s major slavery port to a youthful, energetic, art-loving city where tradition, a forward-thinking government, and whimsy, blend together in a multicultural, yet very French, enclave.

Nantes is an environmentally-conscious walkers’ city. You’ll enjoy the many treasures that you’ll encounter while walking on the pedestrian streets only. It has an eclectic art scene with very creative sculptures throughout the city, breath taking architecture, a wonderful choice of restaurants, beautiful boutiques, attractive galleries, and interesting museums. When you are tired of walking, a tram that will take you from one end of the city to the other. The Nantais are very friendly and  they will make sure to make you feel welcomed.

The French Immersion Workshops will take place in the beautiful city center of Nantes, France.

The details of the workshops will be sent to the participants a month before the event, but you can expect the following:

– Classes will take place in the Château des Ducs de Bretagne. You  will engage in hours of language building skills in the classroom every day.
The activities will include comprehension and verbal expression work, grammar points, everyday life and idiomatic expressions, all put into context through projects, games and exercises in mini groups.

During the 4-day  immersion workshop, you can expect cultural activities and a few half day field trip excursions with language learning objectives.

-Lunches will take place outside the castle in different restaurants.

-Dinners are optional, depending on if you wish to continue to socialise in French during the evenings.

Payment conditions:

4-day workshop payment schedule:
Deposit of 50% of the total price at registration. The remaining payment will be due end of March 2025. An invoice will be sent to you at that time.

Cancellation policy:

4-day workshop: the deposit is 100% fully refundable before March 1st 2025. After that date, the deposit is non refundable.
After April 1st, 2025, the full workshop price is not refundable, but it can be transferred to another person.
