The objective of the general French classes is to either introduce a foreign language to a teen, or to keep the student motivated in learning French. Some of the motivations for learning :

How does a lesson work?

• The student and the parents will meet with one of our French Language Advisors via a free information session on Zoom to establish the French learning objectives. The French tutor will then plan structured lessons according to these goals, the age, and the current French level of the student.
• During the class, the French language tutor will work with a few different methods such as A la Une and Les Globe-trotteurs, and with exercises from our in-house database. The teacher will make the lessons dynamic and interesting. Through games, different visual supports, small role plays, songs, videos and more, the teacher will keep the student’s attention in a fun and relaxing atmosphere during the entire lesson.
  
• Grammar will be taught and it will be put into context with live exercises. Different visual tools will be used to help the student understand the different grammatical constructions.
• After the lesson, the tutor will send the notes of the lesson as well as homework. The amount of homework will be determined at the beginning of the course with the parents and the students.

Note that every class is adapted to the student’s pace of learning, motivations and interests.

Imogen my daughter (20yrs old) has been having Skype French lessons with Learn French at Home since May 2009 ( when she was 12) ! She started them in middle school as she was struggling with French ( a compulsory IB component). The Skype lessons allowed her to gain the confidence to learn the vocabulary and also speak French in a non threatening environment. She went from a C to an A in months and maintained this grade throughout her high school years with the support of your school and the French tuition. Having Skype lessons meant Imogen was able to have the classes at home, which are significantly more flexible than face to face classes. Audrey and Imogen have developed such a lovely relationship over the years and after high school Imogen went to visit Audrey and met face to face. She has continued to take Skype tuition with Audrey as a university student for the past 2 years and has found her to be an amazing support at this higher level. From learning the basics to translating the French constitution, the tuition has afforded Imogen with the support to understand and use her French, but more importantly to develop a love of the language, the culture and the people. She has made several trips to France over the years and she loves being able to put all her hard work into practice. She has even been accepted into an Erasmus year abroad in a French university. For Xmas my parents gave  Skype French tuition classes as a present to Imogen and have been delighted to be able to give a present that keeps on giving and one that made such an impact. One year she and my mother even spent time in Paris together with Imogen acting as the translator. This gave enormous pleasure to them both. I have passed on the details for Audrey to numerous other people and all have found her to be an excellent resource and a wonderful support.
